Nissen Angus is located in North Central Montana. We are a family owned and operated business whose goal is to raise a quality product that offers our customers outstanding performance and adds to their bottom line. We have an annual production sale the first Wednesday in April. This year we will be offering 40 yearling angus bulls.

Our cattle are brought up in a realistic environment. They are not pampered or influenced by optimal conditions and they are run as any commercial herd would be.

Our Program

Jeff’s involvement in the registered Angus business started in the early 1990s when his dad gave him the pick of a couple of heifers.  We’ve come a long way since those first heifers and invite you to see the progress our program has made.

Our Cattle

We strive to raise functional cattle with muscle and maternal strength that are easy fleshing and easy calving.  We also place a lot of importance on structural correctness, carcass traits and good dispositions. 

 

Production Sale

Wednesday - April 3,2024 - chinook, MT

 

Our annual production sale is held the first Wednesday in April at the Blaine County Fairgrounds in Chinook, Montana.  This year will are offering 30 spring born yearling Angus bulls. We look forward to this day all year long. It is our chance to showcase our product, greet old friends and meet new ones.

The bulls are weaned around the 1st of October and taken to Hould Bull Development Center in Malta, MT. We aim for their average daily gains to be 3.25 lbs lbs while they are at the feedlot. We feel it is important for them to express their genetic potential without being over-fed or over-conditioned. Join our mailing list and get info and the most recent updates for the sale bulls.

Every bull in our sale is registered with the American Angus Association. They also come equipped with genomic enhanced EPDs and parent verification via Zoetis 50K testing. Every bull is ear notched and confirmed negative for BVD-PI.

 

Our Program

 

We continually focus on raising functional cattle with muscle and maternal strength. They need to demonstrate reproductive efficiency, have a good disposition and be easy fleshing and easy calving. We also place a lot of importance on structural correctness and carcass qualities. We select based on a balance between all of these to ensure we aren’t selecting for one single trait.

Our herd traces back to reputable programs that include Sitz Angus, Flesch Angus, Connealy Angus, Stevenson’s Diamond Dot, Basin Angus, Gartner-Denowh Angus, Schaff’s Angus Valley and Rishel Angus.
